Nowhere in Hollyowood is the joy of the holiday season felt more sincerely than in the former home of the late world-class film director George Cukor. Once known for star-spangled parties – which often included Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy _ This 1930s rambling hillside estate is still alive with merriment. Not, however, because it was changed intp some kind of Hollywood museum. Nor because its halls are decked with boughs or holly. But rather because the president day residents have dared to imbue the house with their own colorful style while preserving the spirit of the man who gave us The Philedelphia Story, Little Women, and about 50 other movies. The original decor – many features of which remain – was done for Cukor by Billy Haines, a former film star turned master interior designer.
The current masters of this classic home are Lynn von Kersting, owner of Indigo Seas home furnishings (and often referred to as “decorator of the stars”) and Richard Irving, chef and co-owner with Lynn of the Ivy and Ivy by the Shore restaurants in Los Angeles. Together they’ve lovingly restored the home to suit the active lifestlye they share with their daughter India.
As you may have noticed, we have begun covering the amazing Lynn von Kersting here at Riatelprogram.org. Her daughter, India Irving, is also extremely talented and recently wrote and starred in the short film, Mont Reve. The film has received fantastic reviews and even won an award at a recent film festival.

Although I haven’t personally saw the short film yet, I have heard great things from friends and online about India Irving and Lynn von Kersting’s Mont Reve movie. Whenever I can get my hands on a copy of it, I plan on grabbing a bowl of popcorn and enjoying it with a few of my friends. I know that Lynn von Kersting also runs the Ivy restaurant which must be good with all of the famous people eating there all the time.
If I like the film the way I think I will like it, I plan on sharing it with my family as well. Nothing is better than a movie made from the heart.
